Each registered domain has at least two Name Server records which show where it's hosted i.e. by using these records you direct your domain address to the servers of a specific web hosting company. That way, you have got both your site and your emails managed by the very same company. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), on the other hand, there is a variety of other records, for instance A and MX. The former reveals which server handles the site for a given Internet domain and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the second one indicates which server deals with the emails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). As an illustration, whenever you type a domain in your Internet browser, your request is directed through the global DNS system to the company whose NS records the domain name uses and from there you will be forwarded to the servers of another service provider if you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your Internet domain. Having different records for the website and the e-mails means that you could have your website and your e-mails with two different companies if you'd like.

Custom MX and A Records in Hosting

The Hepsia hosting CP, that comes with each and every Linux hosting we provide, will allow you to view, modify and create A and MX records for every domain or subdomain inside your account. Using the DNS Records section, you are going to be able to view a list of all hosts in the account from a to z with their corresponding records, so any update will not take you more than a few mouse clicks. Setting up new records is equally simple if, as an example, you wish to use the email services of a different service provider and they ask you to create more MX records than the default two. You can even set the priority for every MX record by setting different latency. Quite simply, when your e-mails are delivered, the sending server will contact the record with the smallest latency first and in case the connection times out, it will contact the next one. Through our advanced tool, you are going to be able to handle the records of your domain names and subdomains easily even if you have no previous experience with such matters.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The Hepsia hosting CP, provided with our Linux semi-dedicated hosting, will enable you to see the A and MX records for every one of the domains or subdomains in your account and if necessary, to change any of them or set up new ones. Managing these records is incredibly easy because all domains/subdomains are going to be listed alphabetically, so editing a record is as simple as entering it in a box and saving the change. Setting up a new one takes only a few more clicks and in case you experience any troubles, you can check out our video tutorials on how to create A and MX records. Our system is user-friendly enough to be used by individuals with little or no previous experience, yet sophisticated enough to offer you full control over all records and to enable you to have different A records even for domain.com and www.domain.com. If you are moving your emails to a different service provider and they ask you to create more than two different MX records, you can choose the priority of each one.
