The NS, or Name Server records of a domain, reveal which servers handle the Domain Name System (DNS) records for it. Setting the name servers of a particular host company for your domain address is the most convenient way to direct it to their system and all its sub-records will be managed on their end. This includes A (the IP address of the server/website), MX (mail server), TXT (free text), SRV (services), CNAME (forwarding), and so forth, so, in case you need to change any of these records, you are going to be able to do it using their system. In other words, the NS records of a domain name point out the DNS servers which are authoritative for it, so when you try to open a web address, the DNS servers are contacted to retrieve the DNS records of the domain you are trying to reach. In this way the site you will see will be retrieved from the correct location. The name servers normally have a prefix “ns” or “dns” and each domain address has at least two NS records. There is absolutely no functional difference between the two prefixes, so what type a host company is going to use depends completely on their preference.

NS Records in Hosting

The outstanding Hepsia Control Panel, offered with with our hosting packages, will permit you to control the name servers of each domain name registered through us with just a couple of clicks, so even though you may haven't had a hosting plan or a domain address before, you simply won't encounter any issues. The Domain Manager tool, which is a part of Hepsia, has a very user-friendly interface and it'll enable you to edit the NS records of any domain name or even a number of domain names all at once. In addition we give you the ability to set up child name servers dns1.your-domain.com and dns2.your-domain.com for every domain registered in the account just as easily and all you need for that is a pair of IPs - either ours, if you will use the child NS to forward the domain name to the account on our cloud platform, or the ones of the third-party provider if you will use the new records to direct the domain address to their system. Different from other companies, we don't charge more for providing this additional DNS management service.

NS Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The name servers for every domain name which is registered through our company could be changed with no more than a few mouse clicks through the advanced, albeit easy-to-use Hepsia Control Panel that comes with all semi-dedicated server plans. It is just as effortless to see the current NS records for a particular domain name and to check if they are the ones that are needed for the domain address to be directed to your hosting account. The Domain Manager tool, which is a part of Hepsia, is user-friendly enough to enable you to control any domain name easily even if you have not dealt with such matters before. If you'd like, you may also register private name servers ns1.your-domain.com and ns2.your-domain.com and use them not just for the domain address under which they're set up, but also for any other domain address that you might want to host inside the same account. This feature is very useful if you have clients of your own and you want their web sites to use your own name servers rather than our default ones. The service is available free of charge.
